Dance2Music – Dance2Holiday Program’ Frequently Asked Questions

What will my child ‘do’ at the camp?

In the morning sessions your child will rotate in their age group around the specialist tutors.

Each age group will have a 45 minute session with singing, acting and dancing.

After lunch the groups perform for each other to build up their confidence in performing in front of an audience. The children work through the week towards putting on a fabulous musical show on Friday at 3:00 pm.

How old does my child need to be?

Dance2Holiday program caters for primary school aged children who are attending school at time of camp and who are a minimum of five years old. If your child is older than 12 years they may be interested in being a young volunteer leader.

Will my child be grouped with their friends?

We group children according to their age. If their friends are the same age (and you have requested on the online booking form that they be grouped together) they will be in the same group. Friends who are different ages may be in different groups for the morning sessions but everyone is together for lunch and the afternoon sessions.

Will photographs be taken?

We may take photos at camp with the purpose of using them in promotional material. If you

object to this, please advise Dance2Music at time of booking.

What if my child gets sick?

With the presentation of a Doctors Certificate, days missed by sickness will be held as credit days to be used at another time for up to 12 months.

What if I want to cancel my booking?

Bookings cancelled more than 14 days before the first day of the camp will receive a full refund, minus a $25 administration fee. Bookings cancelled within the 14 day period will be unable to receive any refund.

What if my child doesn’t like it?

In the very rare event that a child doesn’t enjoy the program and does not want to participate we will refund the fees. We are very confident that your child will enjoy their time with us!

How long has Dance2Music Australia been running?

Joanne Herrera started the business as JDance  - 2006 and change the name to Dance2Music has been providing Dance, Music, Subject Tutorial and Performance Instruction since 2008. The Directors and teachers have years of experience, with several children participating in our confidence boosting classes and programs! Do I need to book the after-hours care?

You don’t need to book the before and after care.

Do we have to book for the full week?

You don’t have to book for the full five days. We have a minimum booking of two days.

Can we book for a couple of days to see if we like it before booking for the week?

You can book for a couple of days and extend your booking online if you want to add extra days during the holidays.

If we only want to book for two days what days would you recommend?

We recommend you book for the first two days of the week as this is when everyone is new and it is easier for children to feel comfortable on the first day when everyone is getting to know each other.

If we book Monday and Tuesday can we come to the show on Friday?

To be in the show on Friday your child must be registered and attend on Friday as this is the most important rehearsal day. It is not possible to come for two days at the beginning of the week and then just come to the show as the rehearsal and skills development process intensifies throughout the week with the Friday being the most important day.

Are there any boys?

Yes, we have boys who love being a part of our workshops.

What time does the camp run?

The camp runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday with a break for recess and lunch.

How early can I drop off and pick up?

We offer FREE extended hours for your convenience. You can drop off your child as early as 8:00 am and pick up by 6:00 pm at the latest – except for Friday. The camp is over after the show on Friday.

What should my child bring to camp?

Children should bring a packed healthy recess and lunch and a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes. Please also make sure they bring a sun hat.

(Please note there is no microwave or boiled water available for noodles etc.)

The Dance2Holiday Program is First Aid trained however if there is any emergency the teachers are instructed to call for an ambulance immediately.

What happens to disruptive children?

In the interest and safety of our students, we have the right to exclude any child from camp for bullying, aggressive or non-cohesive behaviour. The safety of our students and the right to have fun are paramount.

We have a ratio of one adult to fifteen children. The group size has a maximum of twenty students. We staff our workshop according to how many students we have. We have a specialist drama, singing and dance, zumbatomic teacher and management staff and helpers.

Do we need to buy costumes?

We don’t expect parents to go and buy costumes but it does make the show special if the children bring a ‘costume’ (something suitable for their character from home) for the show.  So for Friday they should come in their regular clothes and bring their costume with them. Or they can hire at our studio if there are suitable costumes.
